The Supreme Court of India allows women of all ages to worship at Shabarimala Temple in Kerala

Kerala (India) : A five-judge Constitution Bench of the Supreme has said women of all ages can no longer be barred from entering the Sabarimala temple. They can worship in places of their choice Sabarimala Temple of Lord Ayyappa in Kerala is considered to be one of the holiest for Hindus.

Menstruating women are not allowed to participate in religious rituals or enter temples, as they are considered “unclean” in Hinduism. The ruling came after a petition argued the custom violated gender equality.
