Albert Einstein and Rabindranath Tagore – the first one is the greatest scientist of the world and the second one is the national poet of India who was the first Nobel Laureate (Literature) in Asia. Rabindranath Tagore and Albert Einstein met for the first time during Tagore’s second visit to Germany in mid-1926. Tagore got the Nobel Prize in 1913 and later established the Viswabharati University in Shantiniketan, Birbhum with the prize money. So Birbhum district was his workplace.
Every person is familiar with the photos of Tagore and Einstein, but a different picture is noticed in Suri Railway station, Birbhum. The railway station is owned by Indian Railways. In 2010, the Railway Authority turned the station into a model station and two pictures were mounted on the station wall. But, a great mistake has been carrying on since 2010. The name of Einstein is carved under the photo of Rabindranath Tagore and the name of Tagore under Einstein’s photograph. Local residents and rail passengers are astonished to think how a great mistake has been bothered years after years. They said, “The tourists who visit Shantinekan will be surprised by discovering such a great mistake. Locals have demanded immediate action to the Railway authority.
Finally the Rail Authority corrected their mistake after the broadcasting of this news on channels.
